Support for torture victims

KOCHI: A programme on creating awareness about prevention of torture was held by the Torture Prevention (TOP) Center – India Trust on Tuesday on the occasion of the International Day to Support Torture Victims.

Contest

How to Prevent Torture was the topic on which an elocution competition was held on Sunday for students from Government schools in the district. Nanma, a non-governmental organisation working for welfare of bright students from economically weaker sections, joined hands with TOP Center in holding the programme.

Vishnu A.R. of the Government Higher Secondary School, Elamakkara bagged the first place while Josemy of Elamkuunnapuzha Higher Secondary School came second and Angel Reshma of E.M Government Higher Secondary School third. S. Surendran, Superintendent of Police, who was the chief guest, gave away the prizes.
