In another resolution the district panchayat has cautioned the people against the propaganda of vested interests attacking local bodies and elected representatives who have taken considerable effort to improve infrastructure facilities and academic level at schools. Education Standing Committee chairman M. Radhakrishnan presented the resolution. The district panchayat contributes Rs.2.15 crore annually for repairing the buildings of schools in the district. In the previous academic year it had allocated Rs.1.5 crore for setting up laboratories and libraries in schools.
