HASSAN: Energy Minister H.D. Revanna has said the first unit of Bellary Thermal Power Station (BTPS) that will produce 500 MW power is ready and will be dedicated to nation shortly. A function will be arranged at Kudathini which is 25 km from Bellary. Mr. Revanna was addressing presspersons at Singapura village in Holenarsipur Taluk on Monday, after inaugurating primary health centre. He said that a sub-station would be started at Singapuraat at a cost of Rs. 5 crore. Modernisation
The Minister said that priority had been given to modernisation and improvement of the existing system but now priority would be given to power generation. He said Rs. 200 crore was being spent on modernisation of Hemavathi canals and that the work would be completed in four months. Mr. Revanna said Hassan Milk Dairy was procuring 40 lakh litres milk daily and that there were plans to procure an additional 2 lakh litres. He said one more dairy would come up near Chennaraypatna where about 10 lakh litres of milk would be procured. Hassan Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer F.R. Jamaadar was present at the function.
