ANANTAPUR: Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy has allayed fears of the farming community in the district and assured that every eligible farmer will get subsidised seed groundnut. The fourth phase of seed supply will be taken up on June 27, he stated. Talking to newspersons here on Monday evening, he said against the decision to supply 5.5 lakh quintals of seed groundnut, 3 lakh quintals was already positioned and out of which 2.38 lakh quintals was supplied in three phases. Another 80,000 quintals would be ready for supply on June 27, he said. Transportation
He attributed the problem in supply of seed on alternate days, as assured earlier, to transportation. Agriculture scientists had advised that early sowing could be done only in Kadiri and Nallamada areas and in the remaining parts of the district it would be suitable to take up sowing between July 6 and 31, the Minister said. Procurement
The seed supply agencies were directed to speed up procurement in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra and also transportation of procured seed. Seed for alternative crops like redgram and castor would also be supplied.
