SCCL to start thermal station

HYDERABAD: The State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited will set up a pit-head thermal station in Adilabad district using its coal, to meet its power needs.

This was disclosed by S. Narasinga Rao, the company’s CMD at a meeting here on Tuesday in which Energy & Coal Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir reviewed Singareni’s performance this year so far.

The Minister wanted Singareni officials to make strenuous efforts to achieve the production target of 38 million tonnes set for 2007-08 and show profits.
