Drink, drive and go to jail

Coimbatore: The West Zone police have decided to arrest and remand those found driving vehicles after consuming alcohol.
Inspector-General of Police, West Zone, K. Rajendran, had asked the officers to be strict against erring drivers.
Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural, A.T. Duraikumar, in a release here has said that the police had already started suspending or terminating the licences of drivers who caught for drunken driving.
The police have decided to remand those found driving vehicles under influence of alcohol.
During the last week, the Coimbatore Rural Police had arrested 83 persons including gamblers, ganja peddlers, commercial sex workers, brokers, pirated CD sellers and prohibition offenders.
Of these, 14 remanded in custody were those booked for drunken driving.
