IN AGITATION MODE: Congress leaders holding a meeting at Patrapur in Ganjam district on Tuesday.
BERHAMPUR: The Orissa unit of the Congress plans to make the violent incidents at Patrapur a major political issue in Ganjam district, the home district of the Chief Minister and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Jayadev Jena, Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Chandrasekhar Sahu, District Congress president Trinath Behera, PCC member Bikram Panda reached Patrapur on Tuesday afternoon. They attended a public meeting organised by the local unit of the party at the village. This meeting was also addressed by the former speaker of the Assembly and former MLA of Chikiti Assembly constituency, Chintamani Dyansamantra. The Congress leaders did not forget to visit the home of the Narasimha Mohanty who died unattended by any doctor at the Patrapur Community Health Center (CHC) after getting injured by lightning on June 14. It had led to large scale violence and destruction of public property at the CHC, block office and tehsil office at Patrapur. The public meeting was meant for bashing of the State government from beginning to end for not providing minimum amenities like medical facilities to general public in the State.
