KOLLAM: Rain and storm inflicted damages estimated at Rs. 11.30 crores in the district. This was informed by District Collector K. Ajayakumar at a meeting with representatives of the people and officers at the District Panchayat hall on Tuesday. Two persons died and nine were injured in rain related incidents, he informed. In the district, 145 houses were fully damaged and 3,005 houses partially damaged. This resulted in a loss of Rs. 1.18 crores. Agriculture, irrigation, electricity and public works departments together have lost Rs. 10.10 crores. Relief camps
As part of the relief measures, 17 relief shelters were opened. Fifteen such shelters still house 2,042 persons from 557 families. All eligible families are being provided with free ration.
