KOCHI: The number of chikungunya cases reported in the district on Tuesday were 20, which is comparatively less than the numbers that were being reported last week. There were five cases from Edakatvayil, four from Kottapady, three from Amballoor and Kothamangalam, two from Kuttampuzha and one each from Nellikuzhi, Ayavana and Udayamperoor. However, the incidence of viral fever cases have not abated with 5,809 cases reported on Tuesday. The number of patients in government and private hospital had been on the rise since the beginning of the month. More private hospitals joined the Government health centres at various places on Tuesday. Lakeshore Hospital, Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital, Sanjoe Hospital, Vimala Hospital, Devi Hospital, Port Trust Hospital, Lourdes Hospital, Lakshmi Hospital and Lisie Hospital sent a team to help the Government doctors either at primary health centres or medical camps being run by the Health Services. Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Medical Trust Hospital, Kolenchery Medical College Hospital and Thaqdees Hospital had extended help from Monday.
