Move to close primary schools opposed

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Teachers’ Union threatened to launch an agitation from July 2 in all mandals if the Government went ahead with the proposed closure of 4,517 primary schools.

K. Narasimhma Reddy, president, A. Laxman, general secretary and P. Subba Reddy, teacher-MLC, in a joint statement here claimed that action was initiated in many districts to give effect to the proposal on the excuse that schools had a student strength of below 20.
