Thiruvananthapuram: The district health administration conducted three mobile medical camps in the district on Tuesday to reach medical facilities to the relief camps that have been opened in the district following the rains. The camps were organised by doctors in the primary health centres at Poonthura, Parassala and Vakkom. District Medical Officer Kumari G. Prema visited the camps. Health supervisors led the fever prevention and control activities, which included fogging, spraying, fever surveillance and awareness programmes on personal and environmental hygiene. Sixteen medical camps were held in the flood relief camps, in which 400 people turned up for medical examination. Forty-one fever cases were reported from the camps. A total of 2,455 fever cases were reported from the district on Tuesday, out of which 32 cases were suspected to be chikungunya. Three cases of dengue fever were reported from Kuttichal, Vilavoorkal and one of the Corporation wards. Two cases of malaria were reported from Pozhiyoor from persons who had come here for fishing from Mangalapuram and Kulachal, while two cases of leptospirosis were reported from Vellanad and one of the corporation wards. Eighty-two cases of diarrhoeal diseases were also reported from various parts of the district.
