‘Aquaguard Total’ launched

HYDERABAD: Eureka Forbes, a Rs. 800-crore entity of Shapoorji Palloni Group, has launched Aquaguard Total (Gold Nova), that is capable of purifying drinking water by removing pesticides, apart from sediments, organic chemicals, bacteria and viruses, and totally dissolved salts.

Addressing a press conference here on recently, senior vice-president (marketing) of the company S. K. Palekar said that a team led by T. Pradeep, professor in chemistry at IIT-Madras in Chennai, developed nanotechnology-based application to purify water.

Explaining the functioning of the system, Mr. Palekar said that pesticides were broken into amorphous carbon with the help of nanotechnology. He said that Eureka Forbes and IIT-Madras signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for developing this technology for aquaguards.

The technology has been patented and certified by popular organisation like Indian Medical Association, ISI and ISO. The removal of pesticide in an eco-friendly mannerwould prevent water-borne disease that would affect bones, he said.

The machine was priced at Rs. 9,590.
