Encroachment: 429 arrested

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Bangalore city police have booked 211 cases and arrested 429 persons on charges of encroaching government lands in their jurisdiction.

Commissioner of Police Neelam Achuta Rao said in a press release on Tuesday that following complaints by officials of Revenue Department, these cases were registered since the Karnataka Land Revenue (Amendment) Ordinance, 2006, was passed a few months ago.

Of the 211 cases, investigations have been completed in 106 cases and charge sheets have been filed in the courts. Investigation is in final stages in the remaining cases. Coordination meetings held with officials of Revenue Department to expedite the investigation, he said.
