Bangalore: A one-day exhibition of the 12 designs shortlisted in the “Notions of a Nation” design competition was organised by TATA Structura and Indian Architecture and Builder magazine, here on Monday. The design competition was announced on January 26. Sarita Vijayan, Editor, of the magazine, told The Hindu that the aim of the competition was to capture the momentum that defined today’s India. “It is with this objective that the architects and engineers across the country were invited to mould, design and create an architectural and engineering symbol for contemporary India,” she said. Aim
The competition aims to give contemporary India its due architectural and engineering symbol that acknowledges, recognises and celebrates its very spirit. “As a design competition dedicated to the nation, it hopes to create an imprint that would grow to be the symbol for India’s presence and inspire more people to establish their mark on the world,” she added. Ms. Vijayan said that as many as 110 entries were received. The four regional juries had selected 12 striking designs. She also said that the winning model from the shortlisted 12 designs would become the new symbol of India. Winner
