Voters’ list full of errors: Lok Satta

Staff Reporter

Hyderabad: The Lok Satta has urged the District Election Officer and Commissioner, GHMC, to extend the deadline for filing of claims and objections to the draft electoral rolls till June-end.

The last date for filing claims and objections expired on Tuesday.

In a press release, it said, a survey had shown that over 20 per cent entries in the voter rolls contained errors of omission and commission.

‘Mismatch’

There were errors of wrong entry of data, mismatch of photos and details and non-inclusion of names of persons enumerated during the special intensive revision.

The voters’ rolls were not easily available to the general public at the notified centres and major post offices.

The voters’ names were also not arranged according to their house numbers making the verification process cumbersome, the release sand and urged the authorities to correct the errors.
