Renewal of ration card

KOCHI: Renewal of ration cards registered under the Ernakulam city rationing office will begin on Wednesday. Consumers should appear at the centres concerned to renew the cards.

In case the card holder is not able to appear personally, persons whose names figure in the card can apply for renewal. They should produce an identity proof (passport/election identity card/pan card/bank passbook). Other documents to be submitted include application form, ration card, kerosene permit and LPG consumer card. Photographs of the card holders would be taken between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Card holders should mention their age, as on January 1, 2007. Details of any card holder, who had shifted residence, should be mentioned on the second page. The details of new members to be included in the ration cards should be submitted along with birth certificate. Certificates are not required for children below the age of eight years. Officials at each centre would clear doubts regarding the renewal of ration cards.
