10-day special drive to ensure there is no water-logging from July 7 Plantation and sanitation drive also on the anvil
HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be starting the ‘tatkal’ scheme of giving permissions for ground plus first floor constructions within 48 hours from July 7 onwards in all its 18 circle offices across the city. Commissioner and Special Officer C.V.S.K. Sarma said on Tuesday that any citizen can now obtain the sanctioned plan in a simple and hassle free manner. The ‘tatkal’ scheme was earlier started in L.B.Nagar Circle on a pilot basis. Soon, all applications and permissions will also be granted online, he said. GHMC, in fact, will be on an over drive in the next few days following Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s directive to improve matters pertaining to water logging, pot holes repair, storm water drains repair, etc. At a review meeting held with his staff, Dr. Sarma has set up a time table for works to be taken up on top priority. A 10-day special debris removal drive will begin tomorrow (June 27) and an effort would be made to ensure that there are no pot holes, inundation and water logging points from July 7th. All open spaces under its limits would be protected with compound wall with grills and plantations by next month end. A major plantation drive will also be taken up involving school children, NCC, NSS and resident welfare associations in the current monsoon season. An education campaign on personal hygiene, with simple preventive measures for curbing diseases like malaria, dengue, Chikungunya etc., is to be taken up. Works inspected
Earlier in the day, the Commissioner inspected desilting works at various places. He wanted plastic waste be removed from the Kavadiguda nala, cement covers of the catchpits are to be replaced with metal ones near the NTR Stadium. Extra labour is to be drafted for completing dredging work in Ashoknagar nala, Fever Hospital nala, Tilaknagar nala, Golnaka & Amberpet nalas. In Ramanathapur and Uppal areas, local residents sought new roads and pending work of construction of an overhead tank at Chilkanagar is to be completed in three months time. The Nacharam Lake is to be repaired after consultations with HUDA and HMWSSB for free flow of excess water. Senior officials accompanied him.
