NEW DELHI: Expressing “ignorance” over the Delhi Government’s letter to the Principals of its fully-funded colleges asking them to get accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit assured a delegation of the Delhi University Teachers’ Association on Tuesday that she would look into the issue. “The Chief Minister expressed her regard for the autonomy and dignity of the colleges of Delhi University. She also expressed her anger at the selective discrimination against the 12 Delhi Government colleges through this letter, which does not explain any reason to them for getting NAAC accreditation,” said DUTA president Amar Deo Sharma, who led the delegation. “Ms. Dikshit assured us that she would convene a meeting on this issue in a week’s time after detailed discussions and deliberations with the secretary of higher education,” he added. The Delhi Government had issued a letter to the Principals of colleges funded by it indicating that it would not release the second instalment of funds if these institutions did not get themselves accredited by NAAC.
