Chennai
A doctor in the city has learnt to cash in on the hype about medical tourism. He has put together a book with the aim of making a visitor’s trip inexpensive, memorable and worthwhile. Sharad Ramdeo Sikchi, a general physician who runs a clinic at Sowcarpet, is the author of two health guides. His second book, ‘Raunak’s diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer’ was recently released by Governor S.S.Barnala. The health guide in Hindi promises to be a good coffee table book for tourists visiting Chennai for medical treatment. The guide lists in detail the cause and prevention of lifestyle-related diseases, provides the Railway time table, address and phone numbers of blood banks, travel agents with a knowledge of Hindi, north Indian newspapers, north Indian restaurants, 24-hour chemist shops, ambulance services, north Indian social service organisations and charitable trusts for poor patients, a directory of doctors and hospitals, by-pass surgery package details and choultries. The book is available at Apollo Hospitals, Anna Nagar Plaza and a few other hospitals and shopping malls in the city. A copy can also be ordered from Siddharth Clinic, 18/19, Erullapan Street, Sowcarpet. R. Sujatha
