CHENNAI: Chennai will join the rest of the world in an attempt to save the world through music. Karnatriix; a fusion band will perform at the YMCA Grounds, Nandanam on July 7 and join many big names in music across the globe performing on the same day to mark Live Earth Day. The Live Earth concerts will be held in all seven continents to an expected audience of over two billion people. The concerts plan to use the global reach of music to engage people on a mass scale to combat the climate crisis. Chennai ‘s own answer to this global campaign will be the Karnatriix concert featuring John Anthony on guitars, Ustad Faiyaz Ahamed Khan on vocals and “Darbuka” Siva on percussion. Karnatriix’s music, as described by the band, has elements of jazz, blues, rock, and funk as well as classical Carnatic. Apart from Karnatriix, the concert will feature a folk music act performed by “Maranagana” Viji and the band Shoe String. There will also be a talk on Global warming at the concert. Live Earth concerts are part of the Save Our Selves (SOS) the Campaign for a Climate in Crisis launched by Kevin Wall, Al Gore, Pharrell Williams, Maná, Cameron Diaz, and the MSN Network. It will bring together 100 bands worldwide that will perform round the clock to mark the day.
