KOCHI: ‘Eleven Portraits,’ an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by 11 students of the Ravi Varma Institute of Fine Arts, Mavelikara, is on at Durbar Hall Art Centre, Ernakulam. Oil and acrylic paintings plus relief and terracotta works are displayed. The exhibition will conclude on July 2. S.S. Shaji, M.T. Lijinesh, K.M. Jinto, R. Dileep, M.K. Vithu and the rest are all excited about their first exhibition in Kochi. The works speak volumes of their talent, creativity and imagination.

These students share a personal and emotional bond with society and feel the need to explore their talents. For them, ‘Eleven Portraits’ is their launch pad. As Picasso puts it: “The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from the scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web. That is why we must not discriminate between things.”
