Naxalite leader dead

Kolkata: Veteran Naxalite leader Punjab Rao, one of the pioneers of the movement in north Bengal in the 1960s, died at Naxalbari in Darjeeling district on Wednesday.

Rao, 74, took the initiative to organise peasants and tea garden workers at Naxalbari, from where the movement grew, CPI-ML-Liberation sources here said.
