‘Publicise conversion charges’

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Ajay Maken, has in a letter to the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi urged the civic body to publicise in a substantive manner the notification effecting rationalisation and reduction of conversion charges for premises in the Capital under mixed use and development charges for parking.

In the letter, Mr. Maken stated that while newspaper advertisements and notices could be taken out, special onsite or camps facilitating payment and collection <ju>of charges could be set up by the MCD in different localities.

The Minister said it was important to undertake the exercise in a time-bound manner up to June 30 so that the deadlines are met and the process of subsequent infrastructure augmentation could be undertaken by the MCD in right earnest.

He also categorically stated that deadlines cannot be extended as an extension would involve amendment of the Master Plan.
