NEW DELHI: The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union continued its agitation in protest against the disciplinary action taken against 10 students by the administration with a new bunch of students sitting on a relay hunger strike on Wednesday. The JNU administration this past week rusticated seven students and fined three office-bears of the students’ union for illegally confining Registrar Avais Ahmad in his staff car for over six hours four months ago. “On Tuesday evening we held a public meeting that was attended by several teachers of JNU. They expressed solidarity with the striking students and upheld our demand for withdrawal of the rustications,” said JNUSU general secretary Sandeep Singh. Meanwhile, the Forum for Democratic Initiative has issued a letter to JNU Chancellor Yashpal urging him to withdraw the punishment order.
