THE CITY-based R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IT major Cognizant Technology Solutions to strengthen industry-academia partnership. The MoU was signed on Wednesday by S.C. Sharma, Principal, RVCE, and Mohan Kalyan, Vice-President and Head—Bangalore Operations, Cognizant. Under the pact, Cognizant will sponsor programmes such as technical symposia and cultural events, conduct student workshops and arrange for guest lectures for the students on a periodic basis. Experts in different facets of information technology, domain, process and project management and other related areas from Cognizant will act as visiting faculty at RVCE and conduct faculty development workshops. Specialists in human resource development from Cognizant will conduct workshops that will help the third year B.E/B.Tech students to improve their employability and hone their behavioural skills to meet specific needs of the industry. As part of this initiative, Cognizant will institute awards for Best Outgoing Students in all branches besides best faculty awards. IIHT expands
Here is another instance of information technology training firms setting up shop abroad. The Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Hardware Technology has entered into a strategic partnership with the Bahrain Institute of Technology (BIT), the training division of Bahrain Development Board. This team has now set up a training centre in Bahrain with plans to establish a regional office there to expand operations in West Asia. BIT will be IIHT’s exclusive franchisee in Bahrain to provide high level education in IT programme that varies from degree programme to Diploma in Information Technology. This programme will complement the existing programmes available in Bahrain. The programme will be tailor made to meet Bahrain’s industry requirements.
