Two farmers commit suicide in State

Bangalore: Two more farmers committed suicide in the State.

A 45-year-old farmer committed suicide by hanging himself in his house at Kuranalli village in Jewargi taluk of Gulbarga district on Tuesday. The police have identified him as Hanumantharaya Anandgowda Nagavi. The Nelogi police have registered a case.

According to reports, the farmer had taken a loan of Rs. 40,000 from Krishna Grameena Bank and another Rs. 80,000 from moneylenders for agriculture operations last year. He could neither clear the loan nor pay interest following crop failure. When people who had given him money started pestering him to return their money, he ended his life, the reports said.

In another incident, a farmer ended his life at Buddayyana Palya in Koratagere taluk of Tumkur district. His body was found hanging from a tree in his fields.

The police and revenue officials identified him as Govindaraju (35).
