Bangalore: Cement industries in the State on Wednesday agreed to ensure that the development projects did not suffer because of shortage of cement. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who had convened a meeting of representatives of cement industries in the wake of the artificial shortage of cement, told presspersons that the industry representatives had made the assurance at the meeting. Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna said the cement industry representatives were asked to give top priority to supplying cement to State projects. They were reminded that it was their responsibility to take care of the requirements of Karnataka as the State was supplying them power and water to operate their industries. The industries agreed to it. Mr. Revanna said the cement industry representatives also agreed to take steps to ensure that the actual selling price did not exceed the MRP (maximum retail price). They even assured the Government of initiating action against their agents if the sale price exceeded the MRP.
