Speed Post cheaper now

TIRUCHI: The Department of Posts, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the launching of the Speed Post last year, had introduced the new scheme of ‘One India, One Rate’.
Under this, a new weight slab of ‘upto 50 grams’ at the rate of Rs. 25 was introduced for all speed post stations, irrespective of the distance.
Local rates
Now, in continuation of the ongoing efforts to make it more cheaper, the Department has revised the ‘local rates’ for the articles booked in the ‘upto 50 grams’ scheme and has brought down the rate to Rs. 12 with effect from June 11.
This revision was done to make the speed post service more competitive and customer-friendly, a press release from the Postmaster-General, Central Region-Tamil Nadu issued here on Tuesday said and called upon the customers to take advantage of this cheaper service.
