FCI defies Speaker’s guidelines

Staff Reporter

KANNUR: The expenditure incurred by the Food Corporation of India’s (FCI) divisional office in Kochi for providing facilities during the visit of a parliamentary committee has been found to be “not in accordance” with the guidelines issued by the Lok Sabha Speaker.

A communication from the Lok Sabha Secretariat to the FCI Area Manager in Kochi says that the expenditure borne by the FCI divisional office for arranging boarding, lodging and transport facilities for the Parliamentary Committee on Food and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution in Kochi and Lakshadweep from December 26 to 30, 2006, was not in accordance with the guidelines. The FCI had submitted bills totalling Rs.7,72,490 to the Lok Sabha Secretariat for reimbursement.
