Jalandhar: The judicial remand of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president and 20 others was extended till July 12 in a sedition case by a local court here on Thursday. The defence counsel moved an application before Chief Judicial Magistrate Varinder Aggarwal Sharma seeking discharge of the accused arguing that no case of sedition could be made out against them. Mr. Mann pleaded that even Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathu Ram Godse was not booked for sedition, then how could he and other co-accused be booked for sedition for hanging placards of Beant Singh’s assassin around his statue.
