Staff Correspondent

The book has more number of cartoons and photographs

It has more features for the first-time visitor to the hill district

Madikeri: The second edition of journalist-writer P.T. Bopanna’s book, “Discover Coorg” was launched in Bangalore on Thursday, according to a press release received here.

Mr. Bopanna said that Kodagu (Coorg) had been emerging as a major tourist destination. In the light of the feedback, he had included more features, mainly to cater to the first-time visitors to the hill district.

More number of cartoons by Ponnappa, more photographs, including those from internationally renowned wildlife photographers — Krupakar-Senani, have found entry into the second edition.

S.V. Narasimhan, a medical practitioner from Virajpet, who is the author of “Feathered Jewels of Coorg,” had contributed an exclusive article on birds in Coorg, Mr. Bopanna said. Chindamada Arati Monappa, a textile designer, has written a piece on ‘Coorg jewellery’, as many readers of the first edition sought to know more about the jewellery of Coorg.

“Coorg cuisine” is yet another edition, which had become very popular with people who have visited “home stays” in Kodagu, Mr. Bopanna said. To cater to this section, Boverianda Nanjamma Chinnappa, writer and researcher, had written an introduction, he said.

Manavattira Sharada Mandana, who had earlier put together the recipe section of the book, had contributed a few more recipes.

For the web-edition of the book, interested could log on to www.coorgtourisminfo.com and www. coorgrecipes.com. The book, priced at Rs 175, has been published by Bangalore-based Prism Books Private Limited.
