BIJAPUR: A farmer committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Ukkali village in Manguli police limits in Basavanabagewadi taluk on Wednesday. The police gave his name as Rajugouda Annappa Patil. He had reportedly borrowed over Rs. 1 lakh from the village credit society and commercial banks to raise crops in the last few years. He could not repay the loans because he did not get expected returns. — Staff Correspondent
