Dharmapuri: The district administration will provide loans to 520 youth under the PMRY scheme in the current fiscal, said Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal here on Thursday. Loans would be sanctioned to start self-employment ventures such as sales of Aavin milk products, DTP and internet centres, STD booth, electrical and electronic items sales and service, cell phone service, automobile service centre, vulcanising and welding works, power looms, silk reeling, mini flour mill, water repair and other viable projects excluding direct agricultural operations. Candidates with a pass in Standard VIII and in the age group of 18 years to 35 years would be eligible for the assistance. For the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, ex-servicemen, physically challenged and women the upper age ceiling is up to 45 years. Beneficiaries selected under the scheme will be given training before disbursement of the loan. The project cost for business sector has been enhanced from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh. The ceiling of subsidy has also been increased from Rs. 7,500 to Rs.12,500 per beneficiary. Subsidy for SHGs has been increased to Rs. 15,000 a person subject to a maximum amount of Rs.1.25 lakh for a Self-help group. The scheme envisages reservation of 22.5 per cent to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and 27 per cent for Other Backward Communities and 30 per cent for women. The family income ceiling under the PMRY scheme has been increased from Rs. 24,000 per annum to Rs. 40,000 per annum.
