Moga (Punjab): An NRI, whose wife was murdered here on Wednesday, was arrested on Thursday on the charge of conspiring to kill her, a senior police official said. Senior Superintendent of Police Devinder Singh Garcha said that Jagtar Singh was arrested from the bus stand here while he was boarding a bus to Delhi from where he planned to flee to Canada. Mr. Garcha said Mr. Singh had allegedly hatched the conspiracy to kill his wife Kiran Pal with two of his brothers in his native village Chuga Kalan last month after she had come to know of his illicit relations with a woman in Canada where the couple lived. The SSP said that Mr. Singh and his relatives had hired a contract killer for the purpose and had also paid him Rs 50,000 in advance. He said according to the plan, Mr. Singh asked his wife to drive their car and after they reached a particular place, the contract killer, who was waiting there, pulled her out of the car and killed her with a sharp-edged weapon. He then put her back on the driver’s seat. Mr. Singh had claimed that his wife died on Wednesday after a vehicle hit his car from behind.
