Kakinada: As a part of the `13th Orthopaedic update’ being organised by the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Rangaraya Medical College, on June 30 and July 1, a live surgical demonstration on correcting spinal disorders has been planned, according to C. These live surgical demonstrations would be beamed by the local cable channel `CCC’ and the delegates attending the orthopaedic update would have the opportunity of interacting with Dr Rajasekharan in operation theatre from the conference hall itself. The spinal surgical procedures adopted by Dr Rajasekharan, he said, were unique and each surgery would cost around Rs.1 lakh but being performed here on poor patients free of cost.

Among expert surgeons attending the two-day orthopaedic update are K Anjaneyulu, professor of Orthopedics, Osmania General Hospital, who delivers a lecture on ` elbow joint injuries’ and Sudheer Warrier from Mumbai who speaks on `hand injuries’.

Another famous surgeon Sudhakar Shetty from Mangalore will speak on ` intra capsular fracture neck of femur’ and also on `clinical hip examination’.

Dr Hanumantharao said that over 200 doctors from various parts of the State would attend the two-day update. He claimed that their department was the only one in the State that was conducting the CME under the banner of orthopaedic update for the past 12 years continuously.

The conference would be inaugurated by K V Subbarao, president of AP Chapter of Indian Orthopaedic Association at Hotel Ishwarya Grand here on June 30 .

The new special orthopaedic operation theatre in the Government General Hospital named after German philanthropist Diechhman is the venue of the live surgical demonstrations.
