KOLLAM: A 65-year-old woman, Bhavani, died when her house caught fire late on Wednesday night. The incident occurred at Maruthurkulangara, near Karunagapally. Bhavani, a widow, was alone in the house. The police believe the fire spread from a kerosene lamp. It soon spread to the roof of the house thatched with palm fronds. Though neighbours reached the scene, it was too late. The body was handed over to relatives after a post-mortem at the Karunagapally taluk hospital on Thursday.
