MALAPPURAM: The 20th State conference of the Kerala Police Officers Association (KPOA) will be held here on Saturday and Sunday. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate a public meeting and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will inaugurate the delegates’ meeting. Minister for Local Administration Paloli Mohammedkutty will inaugurate a seminar on ‘The role of police in the development of Kerala’ at the Municipal Town Hall here on Saturday. P.C. Kunhu Kunhu, KPOA State executive member, will present the topic. Alexander Jacob, director of Kerala Police Academy, will moderate the seminar. K.T. Jaleel, MLA; S. Vijayan, president of KPSOA; and K.K. Jose, president of Kerala Police Association, will speak at the seminar. Novelist C. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate a cultural meet on Saturday. A.P. Minister for Health P.K. Sreemathi will inaugurate a family get-together of police officers at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Manjalamkuzhi Ali, MLA, will give away educational awards to the children of police officers. The Home Minister will inaugurate the delegates’ meeting on Sunday. K. Lalji, president of the KPOA, will preside over the function. The Chief Minister will inaugurate a public meeting on Sunday evening. T.K. Hamza, MP; Kiliyamannil Yakoob, Malappuram Municipal Chairman; and A.K.Venugopal, State secretary of the KPOA, will speak.
