MYL activists barge into IUML meet

Staff Reporter

MALAPPURAM: A group of Muslim Youth League (MYL) activists tried to forcefully enter into a district committee meeting of the Indian Union Muslim League held here on Thursday.

The youth activists from Pattikkad were protesting against IUML State committee member P. Abdul Hameed for denying job to a youth member at Pattikkad Service Cooperative Bank.

Mr. Hameed is the president of the bank. IUML State treasurer P.K. Kunhalikutty and the former Education Minister Nalakath Soopy tried to pacify the protestors, who stood at the entrance of the League House till Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, district president of the IUML, arrived for the meeting.

Mr. Kunhalikutty said it was an internal matter of the IUML. The meeting was held to finalise the foundation laying of a new building for the party organ, Chandrika, in Malappuram.

The newspaper is planning to launch an edition from here. Mr. Hyderali presided over the meeting. K.P.A. Majeed, district secretary of the IUML, presented a report.
