Uneasy calm in Sirsa

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here on Thursday that law and order would be maintained at all costs in the State in the wake of the stand-off between the Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda sect and the Sikh clergy.

Meanwhile, reports from Sirsa said there was palpable tension in the town as activists of the sect took out a protest march while the Dera authorities held a meeting to review the “latest crisis” emanating from the Punjab Government’s decision to go ahead with the prosecution of the Dera chief. However, senior officers said here and in Sirsa that adequate force had been deployed to handle any eventuality.
