GO 610: orders served in A.P.

HYDERABAD: Several Government departments served transfer orders on non-local employees on Thursday with only two days to go before the June 30 deadline set by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy for repatriation of non-locals in line with GO No 610.

These transfers were, however, effected on the basis of the preferences expressed by individual employees indicating the place with his/her native zone.

About 6,000 employees have so far been identified as non-locals for purposes of repatriation.

They include staff belonging to Telangana but working elsewhere in the State. Employees categorised as State cadre and working in the Secretariat, Assembly etc have been exempted from the repatriation. Vijay Kumar, Secretary (Services), GAD, told The Hindu that the Government would take stock of the situation on June 30, the last date for repatriation for the present batch of the identified staff, and accordingly, decide on extension of the deadline after approval of the Chief Minister.

Heads of departments in the Secretariat were busy on Thursday dealing with the lists of employees marked for repatriation. An official in the Animal Husbandry Department said many non-locals accepted the orders with happiness as they saw the repatriation as an opportunity to finally return to their native places.

Chief Secretary J. Harinarayan issued an order asking departmental heads and district Collectors not to spare any non-local employee and to adhere to the original figures of non-locals identified so far and furnished to them by the General Administration Department.

Where the preferences of the employees seeking transfer outnumbered the vacancies in the native zone, the senior-most employee must be given the benefit. All inter-cadre transfers would have to be effected by the Secretary of the department concerned, he said.
