Letters to the Editor
Hats off to Prodyut Kumar Naskar of West Bengal for surrendering to the police after a patient he was treating died. It is a very rare incident of a doctor admitting to a mistake and offering himself up for action against negligence. I wonder if the medical profession has come across such an instance in the past. The district medical board, to which the police have referred the matter, and the Medical Council of India should honour him for his courage and professional ethics. The Sonarpur police too deserve praise for not arresting the doctor. Dr. Naskar’s name will be written in letters of gold in medical annals. Dr. J.P. Reddy, Nalgonda
