Hunger strike continues

NEW DELHI: The relay hunger strike by students at Jawaharlal Nehru University in protest against the administration’s action against 10 students continued on Thursday with a fresh bunch sitting on a relay hunger strike.

This past week, the administration had rusticated seven students -- three of them for two years and four for two semesters -- on account of their involvement in the illegal confinement of Registrar Avais Ahmad in his staff car for nearly six hours earlier this year.

The JNUSU is planning to hold a protest demonstration outside the Administration Block on Friday morning.

As per the administration’s order, students for whom the campus has been declared out-of-bounds have to leave their hostels by 5 p.m. on Friday or face physical eviction.
