NEW DELHI: In order to put up a good showing in the 2008 Delhi Assembly elections, the leadership of the Nationalist Congress Party on Thursday reconstituted its Delhi unit by giving most of the seats to new faces who had despite lack of financial support stood and fought for the party in the recently held Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections. The party has also declared that it would be undertaking a major enrolment drive from July 1 under which efforts would be made to enlist 5 lakh members in Delhi. Announcing the nomination of new office-bearers, Delhi NCP president Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said the dedicated party workers have been rewarded for their work in the reconstitution. He said barring a couple of old faces, a new look has been provided to the Delhi unit through the exercise. Mr. Bidhuri would head the Delhi unit as president and would have a team comprising 10 vice-presidents, 10 general secretaries and 10 joint secretaries. Then the names of 14 district presidents have also been announced. Of these 14 district units, 11 have also been reconstituted.
