ISO certification for discom call centre

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Customer Service Centres (CSC) of Eastern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (EPDCL) have bagged the ISO 9001-2000 certification from lead auditors of M/s Perry Johnson Register INC, Michigan, USA.

Announcing this at a press conference on Thursday, General Manager (Customer Service) V. Ramakrishna and Superintending Engineer (Operations) V. Sambamurthy said that the CSC, popularly known as call centre, at Siripuram also bagged the ISO certification last year also but the auditors had insisted on going for fresh certification this year as the ‘call centre’ had been shifted to a new building. The certification issued now would be valid till 2009.

When his attention was drawn to the delays in registering and attending to complaints of late, Mr. Ramakrishna admitted it was so but blamed it on shortage of staff at the CSC at Siripuram.

He said it would soon be overcome by commissioning of a 16-line electronic exchange.
