KOCHI: With the relief work for those affected by the monsoon over, the revenue authorities across the district plan to focus on the anti-encroachment drive in the city. A meeting of the representatives of the local bodies was convened at the Kanayannur taluk office on Thursday to draw up a plan for concerted action against encroachments upon revenue land in the district. Panchayat presidents and secretaries, municipal chairpersons and village officials attended the meeting. The meeting said the encroachments upon canals and rivers were widespread. Representatives of the local bodies agreed to initiate action after the revenue authorities identified and demarcated the encroachments, a senior taluk official said. The revenue officials also held a meeting with the authorities of the Cochin Port Trust.
