Microsoft to set up IT park in Pune

Special Correspondent

MUMBAI: Microsoft intends setting up its own Information Technology Park at Hinjewadi in Pune district, which is projected as the new Silicon Valley of India. This decision was taken in Seattle, United States, during a meeting on Friday between Microsoft CEO Bill Gates and Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, according to a statement. However, the amount of investment is not yet clear, say official sources.

Mr. Deshmukh, who is in the U.S. to attract investments, asked Microsoft to help in providing farmers up-to-date information which would give them access to research, market prices and new trends at the appropriate time. This would help farmers take informed decisions and increase production.
