Randhawa begins well

Ghei fails to make cut

Paris: Jyoti Randhawa started his campaign in the Open de France with a brilliant three-under 68 to be tied eighth after the opening round.

Randhawa was just three shots behind leaders James Kamte of South Africa and Welshman Kyron Sullivan, who shot rounds of 65 each at the par-71 Le Golf National golf club.

Jeev Milkha Singh, meanwhile, returned an even-par 71 to be tied 38th. However, Shiv Kapur made a disastrous start with a four-over 75 to be way down at tied 102nd.

Meanwhile, Jeev, who is getting ready for the British Open next month, had three birdies and three bogeys in his round. His birdies came on fourth, ninth and 10th, while he dropped shots on third, 14th and 17th.

Atwal tied 46th

At the Buick Open, Arjun Atwal returned a two-under 70 to be tied for the 46th spot after the opening round.

Meanwhile, Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra also shot a 70 to be tied at 46th with Atwal. Chopra had one bogey and three birdies in a fairly steady round. — PTI
