Motihari: Five women drowned in Gandak river near Nagdha village of Bihar’s East Champaran district on Friday, police sources said. The women identified as Savitri Devi (42), Amrit Kumari (18), Sarshwati Devi (40), Tara Devi (40) and Meena Kumari (18) drowned in the swirling waters of Gandak while they were returning to their village after cutting grass from across the river. The boat in which they were travelling was caught in a whirlpool, police said.
