Rupee gains further


MUMBAI: The rupee on Friday continued its upward march for the second straight day and closed higher by twelve paise at 40.71/72 against the dollar on the back of firm equity markets. In an active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit opened slightly higher at 40.80/82 from Thursday’s close of 40.83/84. After moving in a range of 40.82 and 40.70, it closed the day sharply higher at 40.71/72 a dollar. In straight last two sessions, the rupee gained by a whopping 29 paise. — PTI
