Amarnath yatra suspended

Jammu: The annual march to the cave shrine of Amarnath in Jammu and Kashmir, which was scheduled to begin on Saturday, has been suspended due to bad weather, officials said.

No yatra would start from Jammu — the base camp — to Amarnath on Saturday as scheduled earlier, a police spokesman said.

The yatra was suspended due to road blockade, bad weather and harsh climate on the Srinagar-Sonamargh-Baltal road.

No fresh dates for the commencement of the yatra were announced.

The authorities were waiting for the weather conditions to normalise before taking a decision. . — PTI
